Omah Lay Vs Rema, Who Had The Best Debut Year?

Of late, the Nigerian music industry has produced several new artists including Mavin records Rema and Keyqaad Music's Omah Lay. These two possessed and dominated the 2019 and 2020 musical years.

The Nigerian singer and trap artist, Rema who is currently one of Nigeria's biggest international artists came into the game in 2019 and almost dominated the game with his first single. This was almost the same case with Port Harcourt-born singer and music producer, Omah Lay. These two had an amazing debut year and went on to claim the Headies Next Rated award in their debut years.

This article is not to downgrade their efforts but to examine whose debut year had more impact on us.

Recall sometime in 2019, Mavin records unveiled their new talent. The Benin-born Nigerian rapper, singer, and songwriter, whose real names are Divine Ikubor was discovered by DonJazzy's brother D'Prince and signed to Mavin records first imprint, Jonzing World.

Rema became the first artist to release three projects Rema Freestyle, Bad Commando, and Rema Remix in the same year. This was after giving us hit tracks like Dumebi , Iron Man, Bad Commando, Why, etc.

Port-Harcourt singer and music producer, Omah Stanley Dibia aka Omah Lay was the second artist to do amazingly well in his debut year. In less than a year in the game, Omah Lay released two beautiful extended plays; Get Layd and What Have We Done. The Key Qaad singer and music producer stole the show in 2020. He racked up over a hundred million streams across all platforms with his debut project before featuring American singer, rapper, and songwriter, 6lack in Damn Remix off his What Have We Done EP.

Without much ado, who do you think had the best debut year between Omah Lay and Rema?
