Tik Tok is the new deal when discussing music marketing. In fact, a music marketing strategy is incomplete without Tik Tok in 2022.
TikTok is an indispensable promotional tool for music artists and record labels. Songs can arise organically within the app, even if they've been out of the mainstream for decades. Marketers can also hire influencers to try to write songs, creating a wave of user-generated posts from fans. It is used by record label owners, label executives, and A/R managers to discover new songs.
1. Release your music on TikTok
You can't go viral on TikTok without putting your music on the platform. Just like Reels, Tik Tok's algorithm seems to favor songs distributed to Tik Tok using music distribution companies and record labels. You can of course upload your video snippets even before the official release of the song, but for effective marketing after release, please use distros to supply TikTok the song.
2. Create TikTok-friendly tracks
Not all songs have the potential of going viral on TikTok irrespective of how much influencers jump on it. The most important KPI when marketing on Tik Tok is to have more User Generated Content than the content from influencers. This UGC is what you need to break grounds. With this in mind, songs that can prompt users to create their own content should be your major priority. Ensure the songs are relatable. The melody and lyrics should be something addictive.
3. Use a mix of hashtags with challenges & contests
You can get influencers if your budget permits you. If that is not the case, please make good use of hashtags with contests and challenges. If need be, launch a contest or challenge and get more users to create something creative with your sound.
It's that simple!
