ALBUM REVIEW: D'Banj - "Stress Free, Chapter 1"

Veteran Nigerian singer, songwriter, lawyer, rapper, performing artist, and entrepreneur, Oladapo Daniel Oyebanjo who is popularly known as D'Banj shares "Stress Free, Chapter 1" album.

D'Banj drops a banging project "Stress Free, Chapter 1". D'Banj who is also the owner of his own record label, DB Records returns to music with another potential solid project. He is considered one of the pioneering artists when the crossover of Afrobeats to the global mainstream market is discussed. He contributed to the growth of afrobeat in the diasporan market especially with his hit single 'Oliver Twist'.

The new album by D'Banj featured artists like Seun Kuti, Egypt 80, Cheekychizzy, and Burna Boy.

• The first track Banga is an afrobeat song solo-performed by D'Banj. It is a melodic tune with elements of afrobeats and highlife.

• In Stree Free , D'Banj employs the services of Seun Kuti the Seun Kuit's band, the Egypt 80. As expected, it's a typical afrobeat melody with a fusion of country music.

• Here is a danceable tune from the legend himself. Welcome To Lagos is a beautiful melody from D'Banj. It has some adorable saxophones and trumpets buzz.

• D'Banj teams up with Burna Boy and Cheekychizzy for this mid-tempo groovy tune titled Avocado.

• Zombie continues the energy in terms of that uptempo baile funk vibe, but he added some garage elements to it. This track is bouncy, it’s youthful and quirky, and even though a lot of the young kids like it. This is one of my favourites on this project.

• As expected, D'Banj includes an afro-house amapiano melody on this project. The heavy drums on this record makes it all sexy and amazing. Big Vibe featuring Cheezychizzy is indeed a big vibe.

• Here is a street-pop lamba produced by Rexxie. D'Banj prays to God to help him not to sin as he is being faced with a big Ikebe.

• To wrap up this journey, D'Banj shares Open Roof. This is an afro-fusion melody and one that you should consider for your playlists.
