Five New Trending Artists In Nigeria So Far

Of late, the Nigerian music industry has been known to produce new artists every year. In 2019, Rema, Fireboy DML, and Joeboy became global stars. Bella Shmurda graced the scene in 2020 and has been doing his thing since then.

Nigerian music audience seems to always be on the lookout for new talents. Some of these talents are discovered and nurtured by record labels while others get discovered on social media.

1. Ayra Starr

Ayra Starr is a young promising teenager signed to Don Jazzy's Mavin records. The youngster came into the limelight following the release of her 5-tracks debut EP. Ayra Starr spent only a few hours after being unveiled before claiming the Number one song in Nigeria's Apple music. The Benin-born Nigerian singer and songwriter who was raised between Cotonou, Benin Republic, and Lagos, Nigeria showed off her magical vocals in her new extended play.

2. Ruger

Michael Adebayo is professionally known as Ruger is the newly discovered Nigerian singer and songwriter who was heavily welcomed in the industry following his deal with Jonzing World. He just recently dropped a new song titled Ruger. The new song is receiving a mixed reaction from the audience but the singer is obviously not done as he just announced his debut extended play is to be released on March 12, 2021.

3. Buju

Though formally signed to Burna Boy's Onespaceship, Buju didn't get the exposure he is enjoying now since after he left the record label to launch his own outfit called 'To Your Ears Entertainment'. The singer who joined Burna Boy's record label a few months ago confirmed this by dropping a new single 'Outside' under his own imprint days after teaming up with Ladipoe to serve us Feeling.

4. Hyzah

Hyzah is the Lagos-based Nigerian popstar that went viral with his freestyle on socials earlier this year. This was followed by a follow from Drake on Instagram. The young and upcoming Nigerian artist is surely one of the new talents making waves at the moment. He recently dished out his debut single Dan Mi (Pass Me The Lighter).

5. Guchi

Nigerian star, Guchi is a fast-rising singer and songwriter who came into the limelight following the release of her 2019 song, Addicted.

Though she didn't get enough buzz till now. The singer has racked up over ten million streams with her smash hit single-tagged 'Jennifer'. She's one of the new trending artists in Nigeria at the moment.
