Taiye Lawanson (born February 15) known professionally as Taiyel, is a Nigerian Afro fusion singer, songwriter, sound engineer and entrepreneur. She is a versatile singer with music genre of Afrobeat, Afro pop and Afro Dance Hall. She has a music style of witty, fun and edgy delivery and her talent has got her featured on major publications such as Fame Mag and NXT Style Mag.
Early Life
Taiyel was born on February 15 in Lagos state, western part of Nigeria.
She went to Air Force Primary School 1 Ikeja and Air Force Comprehensive school, Ibadan for her secondary education before she and her siblings were moved to New York, United States by her parents. She also studied Computer Science in School
Career
Taiyel began writing song at the age of 14 and produced her first beat at the age of 15.
She has been able to develop her passion for music with influences from the likes of Akon, Missy Elliot, Eve, Brenda Fassie and Sizla.
She emerged third at the Lyve Lyfe Artist On The Roll Contest in 2010, where she caught the attention of the Island Def Jam Records Promotion and got to meet Russel Simmons and at the end was offered a mini deal.
Ever since she came to limelight, she already boast of over 100 songs recorded and numerous top collaborations.
Taiyel has worked with the likes of Sandaz Black, Sagzy and of course the filmmaker, D.I.S Guise who already shot music videos for the likes of Tiwa Savage, Iceberg Slim, Falz, Mark Morrison, Ajebutter22 and so on.
Aside being a music artist, she is also an entrepreneur. She is the CEO of Tae Concept, a web and graphics designer company. She has designed websites for many New York promoters. She is also a sound designer and a playwright, having worked with numerous theater companies in the U.S.
