Sex Appeal: Is Rema Becoming An Adult Or He's Just Following Label Orders?
Nigerian singer and songwriter, Rema seems to be changing his brand from a shy guy with masks to a naughty adult in love with the female backside.
Recall that in 2019, Divine Ikubor popularly known as Rema was announced as the first act to join D'Prince as Mavin records' imprint Jonzing World.
Mavin records introduced the new talent to Nigerians after D'Prince saw a clip of the freestyle cover of his song Gucci Gang. The Benin-born Nigerian rapper, singer, and songwriter, Divine Ikubor aka Rema joined Mavin records following the departure of Reekado Banks in 2018.
On joining Mavin records, Rema has been referred to as the future of Afrobeats by many.
The singer released hit tracks like Dumebi , Iron Man, Bad Commando, Why, etc, and three projects Rema Freestyle, Bad Commando, and Rema Remix in 2019. He became the first Nigerian artist to release three projects in one year.
The young blood who got rid of his signature dreadlocks to carry a low cut in support of the famous END SARS protest in 2020 seems to have used that opportunity to change his brand.
Recall that when Rema was introduced into the game, was a shy teenager who couldn't appear in public places without having his masks on. Well now, that young kid has grown. Like we know it, labels can do about anything to sell records even when it means changing the artist's persona provided it brings in the results.
Do you think Rema's love for booty was only silenced because he was a young naive kid who is now grown or he is being forced to rebrand by his label?
