Top Five (5) Igbo Indigenous Rappers 2021
In Nigeria today, there are three kinds of rappers. Those who rap in pidgin English, native language (Hausa, Yoruba, Igbo, Efik, etc) or those who rap in English.
For English rappers, we have people like MI Abaga who has been doing his thing for years now. Blaqbonez, Dremo, etc all include both English and Nigerian Pidgin English.
Native rap or indigenous rap arguable came into Nigerian music just when English rappers couldn't dominate the game as consumers were after a sound that is relatable and record labels looking for something commercial to guarantee profit.
The likes of Nigga Raw, Dagrin, MC Loph, etc were able to penetrate the music market with rap songs performed in their local dialect.
