Naira Marley VS Olamide, Who Is The King Of The Street?

Street music is a popular genre in Nigeria. Rappers like Phyno, Olamide, Reminisce, Zlatan, etc have been holding it down for the street for a while.

These are musicians who take out time, risking going international as many will term it, to dish out street-friendly vibes with relatable melodies and slangs.

Nigerian rapper and music executive, Olamide Adedeji popularly known as Olamide is surely one of the few Nigerians who have really paid their dues as far as street music is concerned.

The Nigerian hip-hop star came into the game back in 2011. He released his debut album Rapsodi when he was still signed to Coded Tunes. Olamide went has now gone on to release ten projects in his 10 years career. The rapper has also raised and groomed a couple of talents including Lil Kesh, Adekunle Gold, and Fireboy DML. He also discovered and exposed us to Davolee, Lyta, and the rest of them.

Naira Marley on his own has been a strong force in the game despite just coming in a few years ago. Naira Marley gained prominence following the success of his Issa Goal track featuring Olamide and Lil Kesh. The rapper was so lucky to have his song selected as Super Eagles theme song for the 2018 world cup.

This was it for Naira Marley. The controversial rapper went from there to give us so many hit songs like 'Am I A Yahoo Boy' featuring Zlatan, Soapy amongst others.

The street-hop rapper has also been able to discover some new talents in the street just like Olamide. The Marlian president discovered and signed talents like Zinoleesky, Mohbad, CBlvck, etc under his young record label. Despite not being in the game for so long, Naira Marley moved from giving fans mind blowing sounds to empowering a few talents and taking them away from the street.

Without saying more than necessary, who do you think has done more for the Nigerian music scene in the last two years. Naira Marley or Olamide, who will you consider the king of the street?
