Nigerian singers, Davido and Wizkid have been on each other's tail for years now, breaking and set new records just like the likes of Messi and Ronaldo are doing in the world of football. These two have so much in common most especially their resilience. With their fans seeking for what to distinguish their favourites from their rivals, it's wise we take a close look at their numbers with regards to certifications.

Though there are no organizations tracking record sales and awarding plaques to artists in Nigeria, there is one in South Africa. The Recording Industry of South Africa (RiSA) tracks and monitors record sales in South Africa. They are a non-profit organization and acts as a Trade Association of South African Record Companies with members who have a common economic interest in the recorded music industry in South Africa.

These certifications are grouped in Gold, Platinum, Diamond, and Multi-Platinum with each category having different criteria in these countries.

Few days, Davido bagged yet another gold certification. David Adeleke the Nigerian superstar, Davido claimed another medal for his 2017 smash hit single, 'IF. The single got certified Gold in the US, by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). In the US, the Gold certification is used to commemorate a body of work or single for moving 500,000 or an equivalent of it, due to the streaming era. This came after his song Fall was certified gold in USA and Canada.

Recall in In September 2020, Wizkid became the first African artist to be certified Gold in the United States. Wizkid became the first African Artist to attain this fit (both) as a featured and lead artist in the United States, as Come Closer sold 500,000 units.
