Netflix 2021 Movies Trailer Reveals Footage of 27 Upcoming Releases

Netflix will be releasing new movies every week this year in a major push of content that will see some big names and big films hit the streamer.

Netflix shows off footage from 27 of their upcoming 2021 films in a new video that announces the streamer will be releasing new content every week this year. Netflix has continued to push their original content output since the advent of their original series in 2013 with House of Cards and Orange is the New Black. Since then, the streamer has steadily put out original series and movies that have drawn more and more viewers in. No one could've predicted how massive their output would become, though.

Streamers had a bigger year in 2020 than ever before. Because of the pandemic, viewers were stuck at home and left to binge content available to them on Netflix, Hulu, and Disney+, among others. Some were even able to snag some studio releases that were meant for theaters. In the biggest coup of all, Warner Bros. announced that all of their 2021 films would be heading to HBO Max the same day they release in theaters. Now, it seems, Netflix is looking to beat that.

A new video previewing the content to come from the streamer in 2021 shows off footage from 27 upcoming films that Netflix will be releasing. Some of the movies previewed have been previously announced, including Zack Snyder's upcoming Army of the Dead, Ryan Reynolds and Gal Gadot starrer Red Notice, and highly anticipated romantic comedies To All The Boys: Always and Forever and The Kissing Booth 3. The video also announces that Netflix will be releasing original films every week this year, with previews of a little over half of those films being shown in the video. Check it out below:

The slew of new previews shown off in the video may be only half of what Netflix is bringing to the table in 2021, but it’s a pretty packed slate nonetheless. The video shows off footage from Regina King led The Harder They Fall, Melissa McCarthy and Octavia Spencer superhero pic Thunder Force, and Halle Berry and Lin Manuel Miranda's directorial debuts Bruised and Tick, Tick…Boom!, respectively. Amy Adams’ long-delayed The Woman in the Window appears in the footage, as does Jason Momoa starrer Sweet Girl and Chris Hemsworth led Escape From Spiderhead.

Various other footage is shown off, including quick clips of Outside the Wire, Bad Trip, 02, The Last Mercenary, Kate, Night Teeth, Monster, Moxie, The White Tiger, Double Dad, Back to the Outback, and Beauty. Netflix also previewed two films that could make a splash during awards season. Zendaya and John David Washington two-hander Malcolm & Marie makes a brief appearance and the first footage from Adam McKay's upcoming Jennifer Lawrence and Leonardo DiCaprio led Don't Look Up is shown. Netflix typically releases content every week, but most of it seems to fly under the radar. That doesn't seem be the case with this year's lineup and seeing as the video above only showed off half of what's to come, Netflix may yet again prove why they are currently winning the streaming wars.
