 With all that happened in 2020, a few Nigerian female musicians have been able to give their careers all the time and energy it deserves. After a close look at the trends, charts and who got the best media attention, here is our Top 10 Female Musicians in Nigeria 2020.

10. Candy Bleakz

Nigerian Yoruba indigenous rapper, Blessing Mariam Akiode is popularly known as Candy Bleakz is mostly known for her energy and passion. The Chocolate City singer, Candy Bleakz has dropped two singles so far in 2020; "Won La" and "Kelegbe".

9. Ms Banks

Thyra Oji mostly known as Ms Banks is a British-Nigerian singer, rapper and songwriter. She majors in hiphop. Ms Banks was featured on Naira Marely's "Anywhere" and Falz "Bop Daddy" all in 2020.


8. Asa

Paris-born Nigerian-French singer, Bukola Elemide popularly known as Asa teamed up with Udux in April 2020 to give us a special rendition of Davido's hit songs. This performance was felt by many music lovers. Asa lent her voice to support the #ENDSARS fight against police brutality with her "9 Lives" single released in October 2020.

7. Seyi Shay

Nigerian singer, Deborah Oluwaseyi Joshua professionally known as Seyi Shay is the seventh top female in our list. The London-born songwriter teamed up with DJ Coublon in 2017 to release one of her biggest hits "Yolo Yolo". So far in 2020, Seyi Shay has dropped the video for "All I Ever Wanted" featuring King Promise and a collaborative single with Ycee, Small Doctor and Zlatan tagged "Tuale".

6. Teni

Teniola Apata professionally known as Teni is a famous Nigerian singer. She has been somehow quiet in 2020. Regardless, she featured on DJ Cuppy's 2020 album as well as Dr Dolor's "UNEXPECTED" album. Teni's verse on Ladipoe's "Lemme Know remix" released in 2020 is something her fans have been enjoying of late.

5. Niniola

Award-winning Nigerian singer and dancer, Niniola is one of the top 10 female musicians in Nigeria 2020. She recently linked up with Timbaland and other great music producers for her "Colours and Sounds" album. The songstress has inarguably had an amazing year with the release of this 15 tracks album.


4. Yemi Alade

Popular Nigerian singer, songwriter, and music performer, Yemi Eberchi Alade mostly known as Yemi Alade stormed the industry with her 2014 single tagged "Johnny". The afrobeat singer and Effyzzie Music Group frontline artiste have since then been able to retain her fame. So far, Yemi Alade has released four studio albums with the fifth one dropping within the year. In 2020, she released the video of her “Shekere” song featuring Grammy award-winning singer, Angelique Kidjo.

3. Tems

Lagos born Nigerian singer and songwriter, Tems has been one of the beautiful talents that popped into the Nigerian music scene of late. Her vocals are sweet and her melodies exceptional. She had an amazing year with "Try Me" last year and has so far given us another smash hit with "Damages" off her recently released body of work tagged "For Broken Ears".

2. Simi

Simisola "Simi" Kosoko is a Nigerian singer, songwriter, and actress. Simi who started as a gospel singer in 2008 before switching to circular music. She became a household name after receiving massive airplay for her 2015 single "Jamb Question". The award-winning singer in 2020 has given us two big hits. Her solo-performed "Duduke" and her guest appearance on "Know Me" by Ladipoe gave her the Number two spot on this list. She also released a new EP this year tagged "Restless II".


1. Tiwa Savage

Universal Music and Motown recording artiste, Tiwa Savage appears to be the only lady on this list. She recently dished out her fourth studio album on the 27th o August 2020. The album tagged "Celia" was named after her mother whom she spent most of her childhood days with her in London. The 13-tracks album produced four singles; "Dangerous Love""Attention", "Koroba", and "Temptation".
